- The Tip of the Day.

7-S: HELL BATH NO FURY is the secret mission for the VIOLENCE Layer and can be accessed through the mission [ 7-3: NO SOUND, NO MEMORY ]. The mission takes place in The Library of Babel, and involves the player going through a seemingly standard level, before being required to "CLEAN UP YOUR MESS!" This is done using a power-washer (to clean up blood), and a vacuum (to clean up "Litter," which includes corpses and giblets), which are both variants of the same weapon, held in slot 6. The exit will open once the player cleans all previously dirty areas.

Major Areas[]

Lobby[]

Outside the spawn elevator, it's a massive room, with book shelves and benches around the area, with a large chandler in the middle of the room.

  • After leaving the Lounge with the Red Skull, three Idols protecting two Sentries and a Mindflayer will spawn, as well as two Drones that aren't blessed.
  • Breaking all Idols will spawn a single Virtue in the middle of the chandler. Killing all enemies will open the door (Only if the Red Skull is placed).

Side Room[]

Entering this room will spawn two Mannequins, and a Swordsmachine. Killing both of them opens both the doors.

Lounge[]

Upon leaving the side room and climbing via the blue hookpoint, you'll find yourself in a room that has a fireplace, and many chairs and book shelves. Walking deeper into the room spawns three Filth on each side of the room (Six in total), as well as two Cerberi and two Mannequins. Killing all enemies will open the door and reveal a blue hookpoint over a black pit. On the other end of the hall is the red skull, as well as a checkpoint.

Courtyard[]

Upon entering, two Guttermen will spawn on the left and right, as well as a Malicious Face on the right side of the pond, and a Hideous Mass on the platform in the center of the pond. Killing both the Guttermen or the Hideous Mass will wake up four of the Mannequins on the wall. Killing the Hideous Mass will cause the pond to turn a deep shade of blood red, for absolutely no reason other than it looking cool. Sometimes, however, this just doesn't happen.

After all enemies have been killed, the glass panel will open and allow the player access to the blue skull.

Fake Exit[]

After placing the blue skull on the pedestal in the lobby, the player will be allowed access to a new room, made out of the same metal as the secret exit. They are then faced with a vacuum cleaner and power washer, as well as a screen above both, saying:

CLEAN UP YOUR MESS!

The washer and vacuum go in slot 6.

Both tools have alternate fire modes.

Litter too big to be vacuumed needs to be manually thrown away.

Some corpses cannot be moved and need to be crushed.

The door will open when it's ALL clean.

The exit door, to the left of this screen, will not open until the mess made in the level has been cleaned. When you finish cleaning up your mess the text on the screen changes to:

THANK YOU

The exit is now open.

Have a G O O D day.

Cleaning[]

Picking up both tools will spawn a checkpoint behind the blue skull pedestal and allow the player to start cleaning everywhere they have fought; mainly by washing the blood off of every surface. Pointing the crosshair at a specific surface of the area (floor, walls, decor, etc.) will display a percentage meter on the top of the HUD displaying how clean it is; at 99%, all blood textures will disappear from the section with a yellow flash and sparkle. On the left of the HUD is a to-do list for the area the player is currently in; whatever surfaces are clean will be marked with a green tick, and the amount of litter (corpse parts) will be counted and displayed. To dispose of most gibs such as limbs, the player must use the vacuum to take the respective part to a bin, dumpster or bottomless pit in the area.

To clean the pond in the courtyard, the player must use the vacuum cleaner to pull out a plug at the bottom of the pond, reverting the colour of the water back to normal.

Once every part of the level is clean, the exit door will open with an audio cue.

Hard mode[]

In "Advanced Options" of the main menu, there is a "Require High Accuracy" option. Enabling it adds two decimals to cleanup percentage bar and disables automatic cleanup at 99%.

Testament V[]

The Secret Terminal at the end of this level contains Testament V.

I AM HOLLOW.

MY MISTAKES LEAVE NOTHING BUT HATE IN THEIR WAKE, AND INFINITE PAIN TO FOLLOW . . .

I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE OF THIS GUILT AND REGRET, FOR ME THERE IS NO TOMORROW.

I AM HOLLOW.

. . .

I BEGAN TO SEEK THE END OF MY DAYS.

BUT WHEN I STARED INTO THE ABYSS . . .

THE ABYSS AVERTED ITS GAZE.

Trivia[]

  • The name of the level is a pun on the quote "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned", from the 1967 play The Mourning Bride by English playwright William Congreve.
    • Usage of the word "Bath" in the mission's title might also be an unintended play on the word "But", since you spend time cleaning peacefully after facing enemies as usual.
  • This level gives ULTRAKILL players the one thing they've never experienced: cleaning their room.... with a power washer.

Gameplay[]

  • Currently, if you die after having cleaned a part of the map, the blood will remain washed while the gibs will reappear upon respawn.
  • The "Enable blood and gore" setting does not work in this level, likely because there would be no second part of the level if there was no blood or gore.
    • Playing with low gore, however, makes the level significantly easier, as the only litter that will remain will be the Cerberus and Filth gibs, and the Swordsmachine's corpse. (additional confirmation needed)
  • This is currently the only secret mission to let you use your "full arsenal." Ehehehe.
    • This is also the only secret mission with an entrance terminal, hence the Tip of the Day for this level being "Didn't expect me, huh?"
  • This level is one of the only two in the game to have no music during most major combat segments, the other being [5-2: WAVES OF THE STARLESS SEA].
  • The gameplay is very similar to PowerWash Simulator and Viscera Cleanup Detail, with the addition of a checklist and "selected object cleanliness" bar when picking up the cleaning tools.
  • If you switch to the power washer while holding onto a gib, the gib will teleport back to you when you switch to the vacuum.
  • It is possible to do janky prop flying with the drain plug, though it seems to mostly move V1 horizontally instead of vertically.
  • If you, somehow, (likely with the use of cheats) got tons of blood on the clock in the Library, the level would be impossible to complete as you could not wash it. This was fixed in Patch 15b.
  • Shooting the chandelier in the lobby with an Attractor Nailgun magnet breaks the chandelier, causing it to fly out of bounds.
  • Luring an enemy into a bottomless pit grants the [+TRASHED] style bonus.
  • While the library building seems to stretch out to infinity, it is merely just a really tall pyramid.
  • The secret where you vacuum up Ghost Drones is most likely a reference to the Luigi's Mansion games, where you suck up ghosts using a vacuum.
    • This could be further reinforced by the fact that, on the secret path to the Courtyard, the color of the book needed to activate it is green, Luigi's signature color.

Easter Eggs[]

  • There's a secret behind the waterfall of the courtyard, with a sign labeled 'Agnes Gorge Trail'. Down the winding path, there's a red skull required to move past doors (Which can only be accessed by finding a secret passage in the library or using a checkpoint in the back pool after picking up the red skull). Behind the door is an amazing fishing spot with the promise of the Size 2 Fish, along with Hakita, a co*cktail glass of blood, and an unimaginable horror.
    • Rather poetically, breaking the glass makes the same sound as when V2 first jumped through that window.
  • In the library, one of the books in the bookshelf is green. Shooting it with the vacuum allows you to rotate the bookshelf, revealing coils and a blocked tunnel. Upon activating the coils with either the Jumpstart Nailgun or Railcannon, the library goes dark and ghost drones appear. These drones kill you instantly and you cannot shoot them, however you can capture them with the vacuum. Capturing all ghosts brings back the light and also opens the path behind the bookshelf.
  • Capturing all Ghost Drones will also grant you the "Drone Haunting" cheat.
  • The clock in the library shows the actual time on your computer.
    • As with 7-2: LIGHT UP THE NIGHT, the existence of the clock is a reference to internet sh*tposter Katie Tightpuss* (@Juicysteak117) who drew a clock daily in Microsoft Paint for five months.[1]
    • The clock skips roman numeral X, going straight from IX to XI, XII and XIII.
  • The lounge has a tiny version of the Developer Museum chessboard.
    • The pieces can be picked up with the vacuum. They cannot be thrown away, however, making them a general nuisance when attempting to clean up other gibs.
  • The reflections once a room is clean are unique to every room and all include a hidden plushie of Victoria, the 3-D Lead Artist who designed the level.
    • Inside the secret room of the waterfall, the moon is a 3D model. On the opposite side of it, there is another hidden Victoria plushie with the text "Dawg Side of the moon" on top of it.
    • The "Dawg Side of the moon" is a reference to the INSANELY good album "The Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd.
    • It could be a reference to the saying "the dark side of the moon" referring to anything mysterious as, on Earth, it would be impossible (or extremely difficult) to see the "dark side of the moon".
  • The building you clean in appears to be the Library of Babel, a library that contains every possible book with 410 pages. [2]
    • This is further backed up by the fact that there is a literal photo of it with the text "THE LIBRARY OF BABEL" underneath in the side room.
    • "The Library of Babel" was a book written by Jorge Luis Borges. This is the same author that wrote "The Garden of Forking Paths".
  • Agnes Gorge Trail is a real place in Washington. Don't bring your dogs there, though. They don't like pets.
  • Neither the trail nor the fishing spot will appear if 5-S has not been completed, and both will immediately despawn upon the activation of cheats.
  • V2 in glass is a reference of a meme of people claiming V2 is alive despite Hakita repeatedly stating V2 died in 4-4.
  • The glass can be smashed, further reinforcing the fact that V2 is, in fact, "f*cking dead".

Gallery[]

A green book, use the vacuum to rotate the bookshelf.

Behind the green book's bookshelf.

The whole library goes dark, the souls that haunt the drones spawn in the lobby.

The ghost drone. Seen with fullbright activated.

What's behind the Agnes Gorge Trail door.

The message found in the bottle. Tragic.
