: Loyola University Chicago (2024)

During our summer months, the First and Second Year Advising team is working hard to support 5,000+ Loyola University Chicago students. Due to the volume of support needed, our team works strategically to provide multiple avenues for students to receive support and opportunities to interact with our staff.

ProspectiveHigh School Students

While we are eager to help prospective students, First and Second Year Advising must refer any questions to our Office of Admission (admission@luc.edu) until a student decides to attend Loyola.

Incoming Fall 2023 Students

As an incoming student, you will have the chance to interact with our team and ask academic questions. Our team looks forward to working with you even more closely during your summer orientation session. Prior to those opportunities, students will need to wait for direct advising assistance from our team.

Overview of Registering for Classes

Before Coming to Campus
- Make sure to have completed all needed placement exams & submission of any dual enrollment, AP, or IB credits

- Students will receive an email about how to access & register for courses the Mon.-Thurs. the week prior to their orientation; there will be different forms of assistance during that time

- Schedules will be locked that Thursday at 5 p.m. (Central Time) to allow the First and Second Year Advising team to complete a soft review of each student’s schedule

Orientation Days the Following Week
- Meet & have a chance to speak with an academic advisor

- Communicate any changes in major, credits or placements that would impact your schedule

The Rest of Summer and Start of Academic Year

- The advising team will review all schedules again prior to the start of the semester & follow up with students if needed

- First year students can utilize Express Advising during their entire first week for assistance in needed changes

- During the second week of classes after the add/swap deadline, students will be assigned their academic advisor, can then communicate directly and schedule 1:1 appointment

Top 4 things First and Second Year Advising wants you to check out
