I purchased an engine from S & J in May of 2014. The engine arrived and was installed. On first start, coolant sprayed from a large crack in one of the heads. After a close inspection, it was determined that this damage was not attributed to shipping, but rather an obvious, detectable defect that would normally be found during the QC process using any normal pressure test. I contacted S&J and was shuffled around until I was forwarded to the warranty division. I was forced to leave a message as they do not answer the phone directly. 48 hours later, A representative contacted me and I put him in touch with my Mechanic. S&J instructed my mechanic to wait for replacement parts, (They shipped a replacement head and gaskets--took 7 weeks to receive) rework the engine, bill me and then I could submit the bill to them for full reimbursem*nt. This made a lot of sense as they had shipped a defective product and were on the hook for the cost of pulling the engine, shipping it back, repairing it, returning it and reinstalling it. After the process was completed, I submitted the bill as requested. S&J disputed $250 of the mechanics charges, reduced the reimbursem*nt check and shorted me for the difference. I gave this business multiple chances to correct this injustice before posting a negative review. I attempted remediation thru both the Washington state BBB and the Washington State Attorney general--both were very ineffective. Unfortunately, the amount of the dispute is too small for me to take additional legal steps. Buyer beware. A purchase here may just be 7 months out of your life you will never get back too.

S&J engines do NOT stand behind their warranty or honor it at all. I will bad talk this company forever now. TWO times the same problem happened with a piston in a 383 motor we purchased from S&J, and they (without pictures or even looking at the motor) laughed and said it was our fault. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE EVER.

I bought a long block 350 Chev marine motor for my boat. I bought the long block because it came with a 2 year warranty. After install the motor continued to push coolant and pressurize, overflowing out of my heat ex-changer. I paid the company that did the install to replace the heat exchanger, check all kinds of potential issues. Only to find out that the head gasket was blown on a brand new motor. We sent the invoice to S&J to have them cover only a small part of the repairs and they refused. Brand new motor with not even an hour on it.

Don't buy from these guys. After installing it myself, I found out the front crankshaft seal was leaking oil. I spoke with Pat at the company, and he told me to just change the seal (a four hour job) that it was probably pinched. I changed the seal with no luck. Took my truck to my mechanic, who went through three seals (from the Ford dealer) just to find out it still leaked. Cost me $82/hr for 3.5 hours. According to the warranty, I will only be reimbursed for $50/hr. I called the company and spoke with Pat, and this time he said that I should try a Mazda seal because he had a customer that had the same problem on the same engine. I have a Ford!!! I explained the money part of it, that I now have to pay $300 more dollars to have the seal changed again. He then said I could purchase a premium warranty for $200. Why should I have to pay extra for something that should be done right the first time? I understand problems happen, but this company has not made one move to keep me a returning customer.

My brother orders from S&J, so when I needed to a new engine for my '01 Toyota Tacoma he called them up. I've had it for a year and it's a strong, clean engine. Satisfied with the price and performance.

Honest people. I ordered online and actually got a call from a service rep to verify my order. They ended up letting me know the part I needed was less than what was listed on the site. S&J saved me $200 on my engine.

I made the mistake of running on a noisy engine for far too long, so by the time I brought it in to get serviced, my engine was done for. S & J Engine did a great job at getting my engine back to new, and I really appreciate the hard work. My car runs beautifully, and it was worth every penny.

These guys are quick and on point, I asked to them to port and polish my block for me. They had it done and it looks clean and amazing, the bore was perfect all around as requested.

This place is absolutely amazing. Very honest and intelligent employees, insuring your customer satisfaction. I really appreciate all the work and help they provided me, and I will continue to use their services.

We ordered a 350 small block from them and it came in pristine condition all nice and crated up! After the install the engine purred like a tiger. The show car turned out amazing and we look forward to winning some prizes!

I've had my engine sent to them for a rebuild, and the guys here took great care of it. The rebuild turned out great and now I'm ready for my stage 2 turbo build!

Thanks S & J. You guys were great! The best part is the warranty I got with the engine! I will tell all my mechanic buddies about you guys so they stop dealing with rebuilt engines and go for remanufactured engines! Thanks a bunch!

S&J are real professionals! As a mom of four, I brought our trusty family wagon into the guys at S&J. Not only did they get dear old Bessy working better than ever, they were respectful and courteous to me and friendly and patient with my boisterous two year old who asked them questions about everything in the shop. The engine they put in gave new life to our old car and my kids are still talking about all the "cool" tools they got to see. I would recommend S&J to anyone! Thanks for the great work!
